“Hong Kong Physics Olympiad 2008 (HKPhO) nomination has been closed. Over 801 students of 117 Secondary Schools applied for the Contest this year.

Names of accepted students can be found in the “School List of Accepted Students” (Please click the link below to browse accepted students accordingly). All teachers and students should read the information carefully. Students without school nomination will not be accepted as contestants.

Contestants will be arranged to sit in different venues such as Sports Hall, Exposition Hall and Table Tennis room. All contestants should remember the respective Participant ID No. and the designated venue, and must sit in the assigned seats according to the Participant ID No. in the designated venues of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Clearwater Bay, Kowloon) on or before 1:30pm on Sunday, 25 May 2008. The Contest will start at 2:00pm.

Bad Weather Arrangements

Ø          The Contest will be postponed when Education Bureau announces the cancellation of classes. Student participants please visit our website (http://gifted.hkedcity.net) later for arrangements of make-up contest.

Teacher Sharing Session

Ø         School participating in the event is also requested to nominate a teacher-in-charge to coordinate the event. The teacher-in-charge will have to inform and remind the student contestants to go to the correct venues punctually on 25 May 2008. Teacher-in-charge is also invited to participate the ‘Teacher Sharing Session’ in the Teacher Common Room (LG1 Sports Hall Lobby) 2:30pm. ~4:00pm. on the same day. The questions will be distributed in the Common Room after the beginning of the competition.

Support Measures for the Exceptionally Gifted Students and Physics Enhancement Programme will be introduced in the sharing session. Walk in participants are welcomed and on-site registration only. Teacher participants who attend the entire session will be granted 1.5 CPD hours.

Results Announcement and Prize Giving Ceremony

Details of the Results Announcement and Prize Giving Ceremony will be released in mid June 2008. School principals, teachers and nominated students should take the initiative to check the details. The Certificate Presentation Ceremony will be held at the Theatre, 4/F, EDB Kowloon Tong Education Service Centre, 19 Suffolk Road, Kowloon Tong on Saturday afternoon, 12 July 2008.
